Travis County Appraisal District Overview
 

The Travis County Appraisal District is responsible for valuing real property and business personal property for property tax purposes. The Travis County Appraisal District does not levy property taxes. The taxing units within the appraisal district perform the tax assessment and tax collection process.

The Travis County Board of Directors is responsible for governing the appraisal district. The board appoints the chief appraiser, the taxpayer liaison officer, and the Travis County Appraisal Review Board.

The Travis County Chief Appraiser manages the appraisal district office and is responsible for valuing the taxable property within the appraisal district. The Travis County Taxpayer Liaison Officer assists taxpayers in understanding the appraisal process.

The purpose of the Appraisal Review Board is to resolve property tax disputes between taxpayers and the Travis County Appraisal District. The Appraisal Review Board is made up of private citizens and is seperate from the chief appraiser and the Travis County Appraisal District office.
